What you need to know about dreams
What causes vivid dreams during periods of low food intake or starvation?
Yes fasting can give you more focused and detailed dreams. They say it happens because your mind and body is completely cleansed, therefore making your subconscious more able to be vivid. The food and medicine and drinks and whatever other chemicals we put in our body block our mind from doing this normally. So when our body is completely pure so is our mind. Its more of a mental thing than it is physical. It accomplishes almost the same thing as mediating on a regular basis would.
How can i start remembering my dreams more?
I don’t know about lucid dreaming, but I used to write down as much detail as i could as soon as I woke up, wasn’t always coherent but I could go back and fix it all later. After a while of this I found I could remember multiple dreams from the one night and still hold a pretty clear picture until I wrote it down that evening or night.
I used to pretty much only remember the recurring scary ones but they were few and far between, Once I did this though I realised I was having them more often than I thought, some were not as graphic as others, but the themes were all the same.

How do you deal with horrible dreams that leave you drained & get to you?
Stress triggers dreams. Maybe you could look up the dreams at dreammoods.com, that is a good site. Sylvia Browne’s Book of Dreams explains the different kinds of dreams and what your dreams might mean to you. Even if you are not a fan of hers, this is a good book. I suffer from nightmares, so I pray that God protect me while I sleep and if I have bad dreams that he helps me forget them when I wake up.
One word: stress. Usually running helps, but if it persists, there’s no shame in seeking professional help.
How can i get rid of wedding anxiety dreams?
I once read that when you dream of your teeth falling out, it denotes your fear and anxiety of future success.
Whether the fear is of the success of your wedding day or of your decision to marry is up to you to determine. I hope it is the former and assuming it is, here are my suggestions:
1. Hire a “day of” wedding coordinator. The fee will be lower than a full service coordinator and you will have the peace of mind knowing that when you wake up on your wedding day, the coordinator will have everything under control. (and you’ll have all your teeth) If you think you can’t afford one, try craigslist. And figure the cost difference between hiring a coordinator and going to the doctor for sleeping pills for the next 5 months.
2. At the risk of sounding like a fool, I think you should pick up a copy of the book “Miss Manners on Weddings” by Judith Martin. Not because you need mannes or etiquette lessons but because you may need a reminder of what your wedding is really about… A ceremony and a celebration of your union where you are surrounded by the people you love most. This book will help you from feeling like you have to put on a big production with all the frills just to please others. Do you think your guests are going to remember the flowers and favors OR will they remember how in love you two are and the romantic atmosphere you both created with your excitement? All the flowers, candles and planning in the world can’t create the mood you and your future husband set with your demeanor.
3. Think of it this way, if your wedding is the happiest day of your life, then what will you have to look forward to when its over? Even if the whole day is a disaster at least you’re married and you have a lifetime happiness ahead of you.
Relax and good luck.
What does it mean when I keep having dreams with the same mysterious looking bug?
I’m no dream expert, but hope my psych major will help…
I think that you’re dreaming about something that you’re afraid of (not bugs, but something that is real in your dream and not real in life). it could be something like being hit by a comet, the Earth splitting in two and falling, being kidnapped by talking computers… stuff that’s scary but HIGHLY, HIGHLY UNLIKELY ( if not downright impossible).
The large size and the fantastic quality of your dream could mean that you are making a big deal out of nothing, that something so inconsequential is taking up so much of your time and energy.
You should try and see if there’s anything that you’re afraid of in real life that might not be as bad as you feared (a report card, a sport, a new relationship, going somewhere new, trying something…). Since your dream includes bugs like those you’re afraid of, it’s turning imaginary and appearing-larger-than-they-really-are things into things that you are afraid of, adding on to your fear and including new aspects to it.
Why does the conscious mind remember some dreams and forget others?
The process of dreaming and the process of remembering the dream are two things. Very few people remember dreams; all of their dreams. Dreams happen in the unconscious mind, the remembering happens to the conscious mind.
Everybody has dreams – but remembering a dream is a totally different thing. Even the people who remember dreams remember only the last dreams, the dreams of the early morning when you are just waking up, because the mechanism of memory is part of the conscious mind. Dreams happen in the unconscious; the unconscious doesn’t have any memory mechanism. Only the conscious mind has the memory mechanism. So if a dream is happening in the unconscious mind but very close to the conscious mind, then it is remembered faintly, vaguely.
In the morning when you are waking up you are coming closer to the conscious mind, from the unconscious back to the conscious mind. The last dream, the tail end, will be remembered, because it will be very close to when you wake up. So even people who remember, remember only the last dreams. They have been dreaming for almost six hours through the whole night; if they sleep for eight hours, they dream for six hours. You can catch hold of just a faint reflection of the last dream, but if you don’t catch hold of it for a few seconds, it will have gone.
As you become more awake, you are farther away from the unconscious. So at different times, different things will be happening. There will be times when you wake up very slowly; you don’t wake up quickly, in a jump. These days you will catch more of the dreams. The times when you wake up quickly, in a jump, will have a different kind of memory from the times when you wake up very slowly. That’s why you don’t remember some dreams.
